The King & Queen of the Mountain race was first formally held in 2011 and is a regular event on the Berowra Bush Runners calendar.
Given that Berowra and Cowan are among the highest points in all of metropolitan Sydney, the local area is well suited for a mountain race.
The procedure is:
- meet at the location specified
- casually make your way to the bottom of the hill as a group
- when the starter says go, run like the clappers up the hill to the designated finishing line
- throw up (if you’re doing the run right)
The race is usually around 3km in length, or 200m vertical elevation. (To clarify, the run is 6km in total, and the uphill part is the race.)
